READING ROOM:The Diary of Anais Nin, Vols. I-VI, 1st. ed.

This past weekend I stopped by the Meeker Flea Market to see what it was all about. Judging from the banners hanging outside of the warehouse it inhabits at Meeker and Leonard and its horribly hack branding job, the bar was set pretty low.  My preconceptions were pretty right, for the most part. But, nestled in a bookshelf of a vintage furniture seller's booth, I unearthed a gem of a find: the complete set of Anais Nin's diaries, volumes one through six -- in, I think, its first edition by HBJ (1966).

Though I'm heaps behind in reading as it is, I couldn't resist when I laid eyes on these beauties. I'd been long been curious to read these diaries since a friend of mine had shared this quote of hers--"We write to taste life twice, in the moment, and in retrospection"--so I am excited to add these to my summer reading list.

  1. Hi
I just wanted to say I love Anias Nin's work, I first started to read her books in college when I discover her essays in Viva magazine. You nabbed a great find on her work. One of my friend's told me she lived in Brooklyn for a short period of time. Okay now you must share. Michele
